Therapeutic Touch is a contemporary interpretation of several ancient healing practices. It is a consciously directed process of energy exchange during which the practitioner uses the hand as a focus to facilitate the healing process.
Therapeutic Touch was developed in the early 1970’s through the pioneering work of Dolores Kreiger, PhD, RN and Doran Kuntz, a natural healer. The technique can be used alone or with conventional medical treatment.
Therapeutic Touch (TT) is a scientifically based intervention. Research using TT has been funded by the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has been conducted at major hospitals and universities by scientists and nurses in the health care field.
TT is currently being taught in more than 80 countries throughout the world. Therapeutic Touch promotes relaxation and a sense of well-being and comfort.
